National Union of Physicians in Radiological Sciences
Sindacato Nazionale area Radiologica (S.N.R)
The S.N.R (Sindacato Nazionale area Radiologica), aims at protecting the moral, professional interests and fostering the updating of radiologists, radio-diagnosticians, radiotherapists, neuro-radiologists, nuclear medicine specialists, and trainee doctors in Radiology.
S.N.R. is a non-profit organization that is free to join other organizations and confederations that are not conflicting with the general interests of the radiology profession and can collaborate with other associations and/or unions working in the Field of Radiology.
As per its rules and regulations, all graduates in Medicine and Surgery, who work in the Field of Radiology, can become members of S.N.R.
Physicians under training in the Field of Radiology shall pay a lower membership fee, they are not entitled to vote, nor to hold any position with the Union, except for the election of the Representative of the School of Specialization who can be co-opted at the meetings of the National Secretariat or of the National Board.
Also other Bodies that provide radiological services represented by a Specialist Physician in the Field of Radiology, are entitled to become members of the Union.
At present, the Union is approximately 3,000 members strong.
S.N.R. protects the professional and union interests of Physicians in the Field of Radiology working within:
- The National Health Service
- Scientific and Biomedical Research Institutes
- Hospitals and other independent Institutions
- University Institutes
- Specialists in Free Practice
- Institutes and Bodies providing Radiological Services
In particular, the SNR is committed to protecting the professional interests of its members in compliance with:
- Decree Law No. 502/92 - “Reorganization of the National Health Service”, as amended
- Decree Law No. 29/93 - “Reorganization of Public Administration”, as amended
- Applicable regulations concerning the University
- Applicable regulations concerning public and private outpatient services
- Decree Law 187/2000 - Applicable regulations on "Radioprotection"
- Decree Law 626/94 ,etc - Applicable regulations on occupational safety
Offices
The political-trade union head office is c/o the domicile of the National Secretary in office. The technical-operations office is in Via Farini, n. 62 - 00185 Rome.
The registered and administrative office is c/o "Studio Colella” - Piazza della Repubblica 32 - 20124 Milan.
Bodies
The Union features the following Bodies:
1) General Meeting;
2) The National Board whose members are all the Regional Secretaries and the members of the National Secretariat;
3) The National Secretariat consisting of the following members:
• The President;
• The National Vice- President;
• Three Inter-regional Coordinators;
• Four Representatives of Radiodiagnostics;
• One Representative of Radiotherapy;
• One Representative of Nuclear Medicine;
• One Representative of Neuroradiology;
• A Representative of the University;
• A Representative of Specialists in Free Practice, who will also represent Specialist Physicians in the Field of Radiology, who do radiological work with in Institutes and Bodies That are not directly run by the National Health Service;
• The Administrative Secretary
• The First President of the Union
• The Director of the official S.N.R. Journal "IL RADIOLOGO" who is designate among the members is co-opted in the Board,
• The elected representative of trainee radiologists is co-opted
• The representative designated by the National Secretariat from among the members of the Board of Radiology Professors
4) Auditors;
6) Provincial Secretariats;
7) Delegations with: National Health Service Units and independent scientific and biomedical research Administrations and Institutions;
8) Arbitrators;
9) S.N.R.’s Research Centre
Publications
The official Union’s Journal is "IL RADIOLOGO".
A periodical publication is "AREA RADIOLOGICA". The editorship of "IL RADIOLOGO" is entrusted to an S.N.R.’s and SIRM’s (our Scientific Society) member who is designated every four years upon indication by the S.N.R, in agreement with SIRM’s President. Pursuant to applicable legislation, the Chief Editor is responsible for editorial work on which he/she shall report to SNR’s President. The President and the National Secretary are also members of the Editorial Board of "IL RADIOLOGO" and of “AREA RADIOLOGICA”. Any other publications to be sent to the members will be decided upon by the National Secretariat. The Editorial Board consists of an equal number of representatives of SNR and SIRM, the latter ones are appointed by the Steering Committee and by a representative of every Association in the Field of Radiology using this journal.
